Reason for being

The short, abundant season of the boreal zone prompted our ancestors to use dehydration to preserve their surpluses so they could continue to eat the fruits of their local lands year-round. Drawing on their example, we seek to reduce the contemporary problem of systemic food waste in Canada not only by reducing waste at the source through dehydrating surpluses, but also by popularizing the use of dehydrated local products through complete, easy-to-cook meals.

After 5 years working on the development of Lufa Farms, Jonathan Dumas founded Dunord to fill a significant need in his life: a quick and affordable meal solution that doesn't compromise his environmental values ​​and nutritional needs. Furthermore, his passion for local food has driven him to include at least one wild ingredient from Quebec in every recipe. Motivated by the need for concrete solutions to waste and by the food needs of his community, he is guiding Dunord toward a future where surpluses from local farms are preserved, and where the creation of new recipes is based on the abundance of our ecosystem.
