Brie with Kombu and Maple Caramelized Apples

Cheese, apples, maple, and seaweed! We couldn't dream of anything better! Thank you, Dorothée L'épicurienne !

  • 1 Quebec brie cheese (approximately 300g)
  • 1 medium Gala apple
  • 1 dash of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp maple sugar
  • 1 tsp. Kombu flakes An Ocean of Flavors
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Carefully cut the brie into 2 equal parts across the thickness and set aside.

  3. Peel and core the apple. Slice into thin slices and drizzle with a little lemon juice.

  4. In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter and add the apple slices. Sprinkle with maple sugar and caramelize without burning for about 5 minutes. Set aside.

  5. In an ovenproof container, place the 2 parts of the brie, creamy sides upwards, and sprinkle with the Un Océan de Saveurs Kombu flakes .

  6. Add the caramelized apple slices and close the brie.

  7. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the cheese is hot.
