3 Gaspé companies awarded the Lauriers de la gastronomie québécoise
Gaspésie will be in the spotlight at the Gala des Lauriers de la gastronomie québécoise on May 24. A company, a chef, and a brewer are nominated.
Un Océan de saveurs is a finalist in the Producer of the Year category. Its CEO, Antoine Nicolas, freedives in the waters of the St. Lawrence year-round to harvest seaweed, process it, and bring it to your plates. Un Océan de saveurs is the first Quebec-based seaweed producer to be certified organic.
The executive chef of Maison du Pêcheur in Percé, Christophe Mamelonet, is nominated for Revelation of the Year. He is a rising star in the Gaspé restaurant scene.
Benoît Couillard of the Auval microbrewery is a finalist in the Brewer of the Year category. This is his third nomination in as many years. The Lauriers promote Quebec gastronomy by crowning what the industry considers its best performers. The public can vote until April 12.
